One night in Berlin, Germany: what to see and what to do

If you landed with the plane like us in Berlin for a layover or you have to pass through the city but you have only one night, don’t be sad. You can spend one night in Berlin doing this small tour and be happy after that.

When you want go to Northern Europe, with a plane or by car or any other means of transport, you probably have to go through Berlin.

How to reach the city center from the airport during the night in Berlin

From Schönefeld Airport you can choose from subway, railway or Bus:

  • S-Bahn railway [S9 line] – every 10 minutes
  • Regional railway (Airport Express) [RE 7 / RB 14] – every 30 minutes
  • Night Bus (this is recommendable if you have to go during night, since the subway and the railway stops around midnight more or less):
    • N7: S+U Spandau – U Jakob-Kaiser-Platz – U Hermannplatz – U Rudow – S Flughafen Schönefeld – Flughafen Schönefeld Terminal
    • N60: S Adlershof – Flughafen Schönefeld Terminal

From Tegel Airport you have only the Bus option:

  • TXL JetExpressBus: S+U Hauptbahnhof – S Beusselstraße – Flughafen Tegel

Prices

Berlin is a classic capital. You’ll find expensive option but also cheap one. There are many fast food available and you don’t have to go to the expensive city center restaurants for eat.

Also the subway and the trains are not so expensive, but in line with other European cities.

Recommended one night tour in Berlin city center

If you have very few hours there is only one option that deserves an exit from the airport: the walk that goes from Alexanderplatz to the Brandenburg Gate.

It’s a short walk (2.5 km) and you’ll have the time to see this beautiful city at night. The lights are simply incredible and you’ll see that the life, also in the night, will not stop. Of course in winter will be a bit different.
